Canadian Applicants

Canadian Pacific is an equal opportunity employer committed to the principles of employment equity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals. All applicant information will be managed in accordance with the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA").

New Rules on Police/Background Checks
Canadian Pacific, through a third party service provider, conducts background/police (criminal record) checks on all Canadian applicants prior to a job offer. The service provider queries the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) data base to obtain results (
http://www.cpic-cipc.ca).

If it appears as though the applicant has a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted, the result of the query will be "Not Clear". In those instances, we will ask applicants to attend their local police service and request a copy of their criminal record, and present that report to Canadian Pacific so that we may conduct a risk assessment. The time to obtain a criminal record / police report varies by police service and can take up to 90 days. Generally speaking, we will allow for two (2) weeks to obtain that information.  Expedited service is available through digital fingerprinting and is available at select Commissionaires Offices in Canada (http://www.commissionaires.ca/national/en/offices/).

If you are interested in applying for positions with Canadian Pacific in Canada, and you think (or know) you have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted, then we strongly encourage you to obtain a copy of your criminal record/police report as soon as possible to help expedite the hiring process.

Canadian Pacific will not reimburse applicants the cost to obtain a copy of their criminal record.
