Locomotive Horn Testing
As of April 19, 2010, CP will testing its locomotive horns. This is being done to comply with mandated tests for all major North American Railways. CP is complying with all municipal noise bylaws and, where possible, have taken care to choose locations within our yard away from other businesses and residences. The test is the measure the decibel levels of the horns for public safety purposes. Tests will be conducted between the hours of 7 am and 9 pm (daylight hours). It will not be constant noise.
We appreciate that the noise being generated as part of this testing is different than the normal sounds one would hear while living in proximity to the railway. This is a temporary situation with testing results meant to be for the benefit of public safety in the long term.
